The amazing truth about Kinesiology and Touch for Health?

For those of you that have no knowledge or limited knowledge of Kinesiology, it is a holistic touch therapy that links the tradition of Chinese acupuncture meridians and energy balancing with Western muscle testing, anatomy and physiology. It is a gentle, non-invasive therapy and can be used to help in the treatment of all types of problems.

My first personal experience of Kinesiology was about 12 years ago. I had noticed that the condition of my skin had deteriorated and after consulting with my GP and a dermatologist I discovered conventional medicine could do little for me. I was convinced it was because something I was eating was disagreeing with my body system and I had heard that some food intolerances/allergies could cause skin problems. A work colleague recommended I visit a Kinesiologist for ‘allergy testing’ but what I discovered was so much more.

I had no idea what to expect on my first visit and what I found was a holistic therapy that was to become one of my life’s passions. I had 3 visits with a Kinesiologist over the next 12 months and with some very small changes to my diet my skin was glowing and blemish free!

It was not as I discovered simply ‘allergy testing’, although as part of my first session I did discover which foods were beneficial to me, which were neutral to my system and which foods I should be avoiding as they were of no benefit to me whatsoever and in some cases were doing me harm.

Kinesiology is not just ‘allergy testing’, although this is one of the many techniques that can be used, it is much more than that. Kinesiology itself can be defined as the art and science of muscle testing or muscle monitoring. Muscle Testing is used to detect imbalances in the body which may relate to stress, nutrition, food sensitivities, learning difficulties, dyslexia, pain, injuries etc. The Kinesiologist looks at the whole person in terms of their structure (physical), mental (emotional) and biochemical (nutrition) and balances the body by releasing energy blocks, eliminating toxins, reducing tension and enhancing the body’s natural ability to heal.

Of course I recommended Kinesiology to all my family and friends and over the years many of them have had Kinesiology treatments to help them heal a variety of issues, some of the most common issues that benefit from Kinesiology treatments are: stress management, fatigue, improved posture, nutritional deficiencies and excesses, past trauma, fears & phobias and learning difficulties. In truth the list is endless.

The evidence of the power of these techniques was overwhelming and all around me, so I decided that I wanted to become a practitioner myself. There are many areas of Kinesiology that a practitioner can choose to study; Touch for Health, Wellness Kinesiology, P.R.A.N.A., Brain Gym to name but a few but I chose to begin with Touch for Health.

Touch for Health is a branch of Kinesiology, available to non-professionals, which is a practical guide to natural health using acupressure, touch and massage to improve postural balance and reduce physical pain, mental pain and tension.

There are no prerequisites for learning Touch for Health; it is a community based program which is now taught in over sixty countries worldwide. Anyone can learn it, whether they want to use Touch for Health for family and friends or have it as the basis for a Kinesiology career.

Another of the truly amazing benefits of Kinesiology/Touch for Health is that as a therapist, the techniques can be adapted to compliment any other therapy that you may have in your toolkit i.e. Reiki, I.E.T., Reflexology, Acupuncture, Homeopathy to name but a few.

My passion for Kinesiology continues and it is my hope for the future that everyone will benefit from all of the wonderful techniques it has to offer.
